Owen Bird Law Corporation is pleased to announce that Katharina Spotzl and Jennifer Williams became shareholders of the firm effective January 1, 2020.

Jennifer’s practice is focused on commercial real estate, working with clients on complex transactions that include leasing, acquisitions, sales, subdivisions, development, strata conversions, financing, infrastructure and P3s. Clients appreciate Jennifer’s business acumen and in-depth understanding of the industry, gleaned during her nearly two decades as commercial real estate lawyer, which includes experience as in-house counsel for a prominent real estate developer.

Alan Frydenlund Q.C. Presented with Interlaw Lifetime Achievement Award

The lawyers and staff of Owen Bird Law Corporation wish to congratulate Alan Frydenlund on his recent Interlaw Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to those who have “given above and beyond to lnterlaw over many years of service”.

Announced at the 2019 Annual Global Meeting in Beijing, Interlaw Chair Glenn Cunningham noted that while lifetime awards are rarely given, Alan was certainly deserving:

Owen Bird recognizes that Human Rights Day marks the 71st anniversary of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This was a milestone document proclaiming the inalienable rights that everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Owen Bird Welcomes Charlene Joanes

Owen Bird is delighted to announce that Charlene Joanes has joined our firm as the newest member of our Real Estate, Corporate Commercial and Financial Services Groups.  Charlene is an associate lawyer with a practice focused primarily on Commercial Real Estate and Banking.

Charlene obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Applied Sciences, Criminology from Simon Fraser University.  She then attended the University of British Columbia for law school and obtained her Juris Doctor in 2016.  She joins us from Clark Wilson where she summered and articled.
