Owen Bird Welcomes New Shareholders Sameer Kamboj, David Moriarty and John Kim

We are pleased to announce that John Kim, David Moriarty and Sameer Kamboj became shareholders of the firm effective January 1, 2022 and are all members of Owen Bird’s Litigation Group.

Last year John Kim joined Owen Bird as Associate Counsel. David Moriarty and Sameer Kamboj joined Owen Bird as associate lawyers in 2019 and 2017 respectively.

John represents clients in complex commercial, insurance, construction, design professional, subrogated and product liability disputes. John has developed specialized expertise in fire related claims and litigation. In his litigation practice, John acts as BC counsel for several industrial product manufacturers. John is often retained in construction disputes and acts for design professionals and other professionals including accountants and insurance agents.

David’s primary focus is on general commercial litigation and insurance defence. David has a broad litigation background, having practiced in the areas of Aboriginal law, class actions, insurance defence, strata property, construction, landlord–tenant, property damage, and personal injury. He has represented clients in the Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal in British Columbia. He also appeared as counsel in the first Aboriginal law case heard by the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island.

Sameer practices broadly in the area of litigation, focusing on insurance defence and commercial litigation. Sameer’s background in business and economics allows him to practice law with not only a legal perspective, but with a business and strategic mindset as well. Over the years, Sameer has appeared in all levels of BC Court on hundreds of applications. Sameer works regularly with clients of all sizes and varying industries, from large national corporations to individuals and small businesses.
