Owen Bird is delighted to announce that Michelle Karby has joined our firm as the newest member of our Wills, Trusts and Estate Group.
Michelle is an experienced wills, estates and trusts lawyer. She works with families to navigate the often sensitive field of trust and estate planning, estate administration, and family business succession planning. She works with families to ensure their affairs are in order and that appropriate tax planning is in place to ease both the emotional and financial burden when a loved one passes. When that person does pass, she provides legal support and advice throughout the estate administration process. Michelle also advises executors, trustees and beneficiaries in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
In addition to her estates practice, Michelle also has a thriving corporate practice where she works with private business owners providing the legal support they need to confidently build, grow, and protect their business interests, including planning for the transition of the family business to the next generation.
Clients appreciate Michelle’s care and attention combined with the knowledge and experience that she brings to each of them.
Michelle has a law degree from the University of Toronto and before moving back to Vancouver spent 7 years practicing commercial litigation at an international law firm in Australia. Michelle is called to the Bar in both British Columbia and New South Wales, Australia.
