Owen Bird is pleased to announce that Andrew Stainer has joined our firm as the newest member of our Litigation Group.
Andrew’s practice is focused on commercial, maritime, transportation, and insurance related disputes. Andrew has been nationally recognized by Chambers as a leading lawyer in Shipping, by the Legal 500 as a “Next Generation Partner” in Shipping, and by Best Lawyers in both Maritime and Insurance law.
Andrew has extensive experience with matters involving casualty and emergency response, maritime collisions and claims, fires, floods, complex bodily injuries and fatalities, pollution incidents, cargo claims, and significant property losses. He represents a diverse array of clients, including underwriters, ship owners, P&I clubs, corporations, trades, professionals, and individuals. He is experienced with vessel arrest and the application of international conventions to maritime proceedings.
Andrew has represented clients in proceedings before the courts of British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta as well as the Canadian Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal and various tribunals. He has also achieved many successful results for clients through mediation.
