Ekam obtained his Juris Doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, where he received the International Tuition Entrance Award. Before and during law school, Ekam gained valuable experience as a court clerk at the B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver. He also volunteered his time as a clinician for the Law Students Legal Advice Program at UBC, providing pro bono legal assistance. In his final year of law school, Ekam served as a judicial intern to several Provincial Court Judges, where he assisted with ongoing legal matters before the court.

Ekam’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a Legal Studies Certificate from Simon Fraser University. During his undergraduate studies at SFU, he received multiple awards and scholarships including the Undergraduate Open Scholarship and the School of Criminology Alumni Scholarship.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Ekam is a passionate cricket enthusiast. He founded SFU’s Cricket Club during his undergraduate studies and served as Vice-President of UBC’s Cricket Club throughout law school. He currently holds a volunteer leadership position as the Chairperson of B.C. Mainland Cricket Association’s College and University Cricket League. Ekam also volunteers as the Media Coordinator of the Sikh Heritage Society of B.C. He is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi and conversational in Urdu.
