Robin Macfarlane’s practice is business‑oriented and concentrates on corporate, commercial, tax and banking law. He provides a full range of advice to small and medium sized entrepreneurs and corporations and takes a hands‑on approach to his practice.
Robin pays close attention to current court decisions and changes in legislation. “If you watch closely, you can find new, more effective ways to achieve the results your clients want.” His drafting is a particular strength. When appropriate, Robin will litigate to solve a client’s problem. He acted successfully in the first case under the Canada Business Corporations Act that determined the fair value of shares held by the minority shareholders in a company.
Robin’s approach is practical and realistic. His clients generally are not interested in the mechanics of a transaction. They want practical results. In more than 20 years with Owen Bird Law Corporation, very few of Robin’s deals have not closed.
Beyond practice, Robin’s interests include skiing, hockey, golf, running and biking.
